WATERSPORTS SAFETY CODE

Watersports are fun and challenging but involve inherent risks of injury or death. To increase your enjoyment of the sport and to reduce your risks, use common sense and follow these guidelines:

  • Familiarize yourself with all applicable federal, state and local laws, the risks inherent in the sport and the proper use of equipment.
  • Know the waterways and always have a person other than the boat driver as an observer.
  • The rider, observer and driver should agree on hand signals.
  • Never start out until the rider signals that they are ready.
  • Always use caution and common sense.

Regarding your equipment and your towrope:

  • Always wear a U.S. Coast Guard Type III (PFD) vest.
  • Inspect all equipment prior to use. Check bindings, fins, and flotation device prior to each use and DO NOT USE if damaged.
  • Tow ropes stretch during use. If a rope breaks or is suddenly released, it can snap back striking boat occupants or the user which could result in injury or death.
  • Inspect rope before use and do not use tow rope if frayed, knotted or damaged. Use proper toe rope for the activity.
  • Ensure rope is free from all body parts prior to starting out or during use.
  • Keep persons and ropes away from propeller when engine is running, even if in neutral. Should rope become entangled in propeller, SHUT OFF ENGINE AND REMOVE IGNITION KEY BEFORE RETRIEVING ROPE. Propellers are very sharp and can cut wet skin easily.

LIABILITY & SUITABILITY OF USE

Activities involving the use of Liquid Force wakeboards, kiteboards, and bindings assume the risk of bodily injury arising from those activities.

Liquid Force is not liable to the users of third parties for any incidental or consequential damages, including damages for personal injury, beyond the responsibility Liquid Force assumes for replacement or repair of its products subject to the conditions set forth herein.

HOW TO TREAT YOUR BOARD

  1. Rinse your board with fresh water after using in salt water.
  2. It is generally better to keep your board and bindings out of the sun for longer periods of time.
  3. Do not use oils or lotions to get in the bindings. These never wash out and make your feet slimy.
  4. It’s not a surfboard or a car…Don’t wax it.
  5. Buy a protective bag for your board, it helps keep it from becoming scratched, protects it from the sun and may protect the boat as well.
  6. Inspect your board for damage every time you ride. Also check the bindings for worn or damaged parts.
  7. Replace excessively worn or damaged parts before riding your board.
  8. Check the fins to make sure they are tight. Fins do not float.
  9. Check the binding retention bolts before each ride to make sure they are tight.
  10. Do not use thread sealants such as Loc-tie® on binding bolts or fin screws. These products can attack some types of plastics causing structural failure.
  11. Gasoline, oils, and most other petroleum products are bad for your board, so do not let your board come in contact with any of these chemicals.

HELPFUL RIDING TIPS

Beginners should hold the handle with both hands, palms down. Put the rope over the toe side edge of the board (the side your toes point to). Try to place your knees to the inside of your elbows. Hold the position. Alert the driver when you are ready. Have the driver give a slow, steady pull out of the water. Stay in the squatted position with your arms straight, resisting the pull of the boat by putting pressure on your feet. Let the boat pull you out. After you start to feel the board plane…stand up. Use your legs for power, leaving your arms straight while keeping your eyes on the boat. You have just made a deep water start.
Caution: these are guidelines only. There is no substitute for professional instruction. Instruction will teach general safety guidelines and proper techniques, thereby reducing your risk of injury. For more information on wakeboarding schools, contact your Liquid Force dealer, the World Wakeboard Association or local ski club. I haven’t had one yet.

I’m never at work . . . and I spend it working.

DON WALLACE
GM/BRAND DIRECTOR

First time grabbing a handle?
I’m pretty sure it was at Bullard’s Bar Reservoir in Northern California… I was rocking a sweet set of wood double skis behind my parents new Sea Swirl! Good times!

Where is home?
It’s “where the heart is”… duh. Haha. Oh, you want a real answer? My mail gets sent to Leucadia, CA, my roots are in Nevada City, CA, and my home away from home is Mammoth, CA.

You make the best?
Friend, of course.

The greatest thing about Liquid Force?
We don’t take ourselves too seriously.

Describe an average day?
Wake up… go surf… check Instagram to see what our team is up to and to see if I have more followers than Grace… arrive at work mid morning… listen to AG and Dawley talk about what they got into last night…tell Gleason and O’Malley why their teams are worse than mine... watch some videos of funny cats that Susan or Tim have sent me… go surf… grab some lunch at Bull Taco… listen to Jimmy talk about the waves… watch the latest web videos of our team on LFfilms.com… put together this week’s LF Softball lineup… then head home… pretty rough life, right? haha. Truthfully, there is not an average day here at LF… everything is constantly changing and every day brings a new and exciting challenge.

Favorite animal?
A Duck… followed closely by cats and dogs.

Inspirations?
It’s cliché but my parents have always been my inspirations… they have been great role models! Besides them, I’ve always been inspired by anyone that lives life to the fullest and doesn’t sweat the small stuff. I guess that’s why I’ve ended up working in an industry that is selling fun!

Best board graphic in the history of the world?
I’d have to say the Original Trip graphic that Jimmy and Necrason worked on with Drew. I’ve got that one on the wall here in the office… brings back some great memories! Besides that, I’ve always really loved the stuff that Jami has done for our Obscura skates… especially this year’s “Big Don” graphic.

Parting words?
If anyone actually reads this I hope they are doing something that they love to do… if you love what you do, you’ll never have to work a day in your life!

NICO VON LERCHENFELD
EUROPEAN PARK TEAM MANAGER

First time grabbing a handle?
Probably when I was like three years old at the cable park my dad ran back then.

Where is home?
I grew up in a region called Allgäu in the south of Germany. Now I live in Cologne, one of the coolest cities on earth, with my girlfriend, our son and our two cats.

You make the best…?
Risotto. Ask those who tried it, it’s really good.

The greatest thing about Liquid Force?
Everyone working at LF is in it for the love of wakeboarding and the great friendships that have formed through it. Doesn’t feel like business, but more like a friend project that turned into this brand with the raddest product and the sickest team out there.

Describe your average day
Get waken up by my son Nalu. Have breakfast together, go play in a park outside. Lunch with my girlfriend Nane while he does his lunchtime nap. Bring him to his half-daycare place, drive to Langenfeld or Wakebeach to ride. When Nalu is back from daycare we play some more, read and if we’re lucky and he sleeps soon, we can catch up on work a bit before falling to bed. As we have lots going on though days very rarely look like this though.

Favorite animal?
I really like animals, which is why it is hard to pick a favorite one and which is why I don’t eat any of them.

Inspirations?
From people who have achieved greatness in what they do while still being humble and doing things to help others or our planet.

Best board graphic in the history of the world?
The LF Trip graphics by Drew Brophy. As a kid when I was like 5 or 6 years old, I was trying to paint those all the time!

Parting words?
I hope to see you out there!

TOM FOOSHEE
GLOBAL TEAM MANAGER

First time grabbing a handle?
Straight up, 1986 or 1987. Used to ride on my dad’s shoulders while he was skiing long before I ever rode anything. 1987 was when I first got up on my own on anything behind a boat if we want to get tech.

Where is home?
New Braunfels, TX

You make the best…?
Football Analyst, or so I believe. But I can definitely crank out the best Tortilla Soup you have ever had.

The greatest thing about Liquid Force?
The people, the products, the good vibes, the athletes, the events……..pretty much everything about LF is the greatest.

Describe your average day
Wake up and attempt to get my family and I out of the house on time, which never happens right. Get to the airport to wash some private jets and airplanes. Power through that job to head home and each lunch. Then to work on some LF athlete projects followed by the gym. Gym session always ends with 20 mins on the bike, so that allows me to crush out some more LF emails. If the weather is good, then a wakeboard set is usually taken (I still ride quite frequently). Then enjoy some family time and dinner with them. The day ends with me crashing out before any type of football game ends.

Favorite animal?
A Longhorn……duh

Inspirations?
My dad and my wife. Between the two of them I wouldn’t be where I am at now.

Best board graphic in the history of the world?
Actually that would be the 2020 Reverse graphic. Mike and the boys are some serious fortune tellers by perfectly laying out my family on the graphic. But the trippy part is, the graphic was designed before my baby boy was even baking in the oven. Futuristic funk!

Parting words?
“You can always retake a class, but you can never relive a party”
